Yaoundé (EIME)

In October 2016, Y SCHOOLS took an ambitious gambleestablishing a school in Cameroon and founding the EIME: International School of Management and Entrepreneurship in Yaoundé.

Context and objectives

scbs-ecole-des-territoires-eime-contexte

In Cameroon, we award a 3-year Bachelor’s degree (Bachelor in Business Management) and have around 180 students over the 3 years of the course.

The purpose of setting up this school? To avoid standardisation and implement an innovative policy, in particular on the international stage! Ever since it was founded, Y SCHOOLS has focused on three major founding principles; entrepreneurial innovation, cross-sectoral activity and corporate social responsibility. Aware that the future will unroll on other continents and armed with its experience in the international exchange sector (over 200 partners worldwide), Y SCHOOLS quickly decided that a new terrain could be both a source of enrichment for its educational focus and contribute to its financial balance. After analysing the possibilities offered in other parts of the world, the final choice was Sub-Saharan Africa.

Why? Because the main objective was to implement an innovative international policy and avoid standardisation. Francis Bécard, Managing Director of Y SCHOOLS, very quickly drew up a strategy around this opportunity and, with the support of the Strategic Council, began an in-depth feasibility study.

A few years later, we are proud of this wonderful success! This is our very first campus abroad. It has led to a genuine collective awareness and mutual reassessment. Today, we are keen to form a long-lasting relationship with the environments where we build our projects, especially Cameroon. We are developing a French-style education system by reproducing our Bachelor’s degree model and bringing our lecturer-researchers to work there, along with local professionals.

In the long term, our ambition is to duplicate the Troyes model, combining training with a commitment to develop the local area. This will be done through actions and tools to benefit young entrepreneurs, such as an incubator. We are also keen to promote exchanges between our French and Cameroonian students. We therefore offer French students at Y SCHOOLS colleges the chance to spend a semester in Cameroon, while students from Cameroon can continue their studies in France. Y SCHOOLS intends to establish itself on the African continent in the long term, and continue growing its African project…

Training

The International School of Management and Entrepreneurship is connected to SCBS and its vocation is to train future managers and entrepreneurs. The Global Bachelor in Management (GBM) prepares directly operational managers for the reality of business and continues studies up to Masters grade (postgraduate – 5 years).
